Dear Dr. Hagner: I am enclosing an editorial from the “Times” which I am sure you will be interested in since Mr. Mal- colm MacKay told you of the controversy over the statue which is to represent Charlie in the Na- tional Hall of Fame. Newspaper articles are harsh but the editors of the “Times” consider a national thing and are not easy on the individual. This is so much bigger than any one individual in this case that we have to take what they give. How I should like to be where you people could talk to me and give me suggestions that I might be able to help to show Montana where she should reconsider and choose a truly worthy thing to represent our Charlie. I know how you loved Charlie and how he loved you in the short time you knew each other so any suggestions from you will be so gladly received. Sincerely, Encl.
