Pasadena, California. May 6, 1931. Dr. Francis R. Hagner, 1835 Eye Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. My dear Dr. Hagner: Your letter of April 28th, gave me great comfort and courage. Through Mr. MacKay’s and your great friendship for Charlie, you started the wheel turning through Senator Walsh which led to a letter I have just re- ceived from the Governor of Montana in which he says nothing will be done until the legislature meets two years from now. In the meantime, I feel something will come forth that will give us a model worthy of Charlie and Montana to fill that niche. I hope you understand how deeply I appreciate the interest you have just shown in the memory of our dear Charlie and any further suggestions you can offer to strengthen the movement for a truly worthy piece of art will be gratefully accepted by me. We cannot let them forget that a bigger and better model must be produced. My kindest remembrances to you and your wife. Sincerely, P.S.
