Pasadena, California. May 2, 1932. Mr. Harry P. Stanford, K a l i s p e l l, Montana. Dear Friend: At a time like this, there is absolutely nothing a human can say but you know that I understand the lonliness [sic] that is hanging around your heart. I have tried to live with memoires – happy mem- ories uppermost in my thoughts and your life with your partner has been much like Charlie’s and mine was – perfect understanding and commradeship[sic] mixed and held together with love so that we can look back and see only joy. Any little rough spot that was there is all smoothed out so keep memory close to you. It will help a lot. I think of you and your partner as one and my friend. When I needed a word, I got it and I am not for- getting. I hope you understand how I am thinking of you and wishing that you may find relief for the ache and void that I know is yours. Ted and Jack join me in sending best love to you. Sincerely,
