I had a little exhibition of Charlie’s work in Los Angeles a week or so ago and during the time I was there we sold ten copies of Good Medicine. I know this pleases the publisher because we hit such a hard time when the expensive edition was released. Under separate cover, I am sending some poems written by John B. Ritch, Lewistown, Montana. He is an old timer and punched cows with Charlie and knows what he is talking about. I wish you would give them your personal attention and see what the possibilities are for getting out the collection. Will you write to Mr. Ritch direct, giving him your decision. I just wanted the material to get into your hands and not to the readers because I feel you understand the western stuff so much better than the average reader. I think you will be interested in Mr. Ritch’s work and hope this col- lection of verse will be published by Doubleday, Doran & Com- pany.
