Pasadena, California November 1st, 1927 Mr. Erwin S. Barrie Grand Central Art Galleries New York, N.Y. Dear Mr. Barrie: I am sending herewith four cuts of bronze and paintings, one is “Where a Law Dulls the Edge of Change”, the painting that belongs to the Prince of Wales. The Duke of York does not own a picture of Charlie’s but the Duke of Connaught does. His picture is “Where a Left Hand Shake is Best” and it was in oil and the composition is similar to a water color owned by Dr. Cole which is called “A Doubtful Hand Shake”. Another cut is a portrait of Charlie painted by Arthur Hazard. The other two cuts are bronze, “Counting Coup” and the “Horse Wrangler”. I am also sending some photographs and the titles of the picture are on the back. I am enclosing some clippings that I hope your news writer can use. If you will take “Trails Plowed Under” Will Rogers introduction will give pretty much the idea where Western people place Charlie. You can get photographs of the bronzes you have and in that way get the ones you want. I am starting east tonight and will be in New York on the New York Central arriving Saturday at 5:30 P.M. I am planning to go to the Commodore. I don’t know whether it will be possible to see you on Sunday or Saturday night, please leave a message for me at the hotel. If I am not to see you Sunday will go over to McKays in Inglewood for the day. Hope the pictures get through in good shape. Sincerely, MG
