Dear Mr. Barrie:
After more than three weeks on my way home I have
gotten to my mail. My wire in answer to your letter
of October 22nd is as follows:
“Your letter just received. Will accept $5,000.
net for listed bronze by Russell in your letter
of August 22nd. Air letter following.”
It would be foolish for me to sell not making any
profit to speak of so I couldn’t accept the offer of
$4,000. But if your client will pay me $5,000. net
that would give me a little profit and as soon as I get
the money will have another set of bronze made to ex-
hibit at your gallery. Please wire me your decision as
it will be impossible almost to get a collection in full
ready for the date you have given me, October 24th at
your gallery. If you can change the date to November 14
I can get enough together for a credible show and as I
understand I am to have the small inside room and just
have a few pictures with the bronzes. It would not inter-
fere with anyone’s plans and make it possible for me to do
credit to us all.
Please wire me if this will meet with your plans so
I may change my Boston date, should like to do that as
soon as possible. Also have to change the plans with
the publishers, Doubleday Doran, as I am to do some work on a
book they are getting out of Mr. Russell’s. Thanking you
for an immediate answer.
