October 30, 1929. Mr. Ernest E. Quantrelle, 5 Leonard Road, Bronxville, N.Y. Dear Mr. Quantrelle: I’m sending you a photograph of our fireplace in the cabin at Lake McDonald. Charlie loved this particular fire- place more than any that we had. You see the drawings on it were put in while the cement was soft and half of them were done by Philip R. Goodwin, who lives at Lewis & Grove Streets, Mamaroneck, N.Y. If you should want him to decorate your fireplace, I believe he’d do it. Of course, the cement must be wet and he has to work very fast. You can tell him, if you wish, that I suggested it, as he was the one who helped Charlie decorated ours. It was impossible to get any pictures of the studio in Great Falls that would be of use to you. The interior is not in order and no one is allowed to go in and take photographs and I’m sorry I have none. Mr. Beil had the same luck; he was not allowed to go in. He is here and has been doing some very good work this summer. I’m sending you a little photograph of a collection of Indian portraits that he modeled while in Montana.
