June 13, 1935. Mrs. Charles Russell, 725 Michigan Blvd Pasadena, Calif. Dear Mrs. Russell: The little ash tray was sold for $125. as we had this offer and thought you would not have us refused it. All the sculptors are making reductions as large or larger than this amount. In fact, hardly any Artist is asking the same today as he did before the depression. We have been charging 35% commission on all things sold from our Fifth Avenue establishment and notice was sent to this effect over two years ago. As you know we always get the regular price for your things when we can and trust this explanation is satisfactory and hope we will have a better report for you in the near future. With kindest personal regards, Very truly yours, (signed] Erwin S. Barrie Manager. ESB:DN
