May 24, 1937 Mrs. Charles M. Russell "Trail’s End" 725 Michigan Blvd., Pasadena, Calif. Dear Mrs. Russell:- Thank you for your good note of May 15th. Our commission in our main galleries always has been and still is 25%. On out of town exhibitions where we have tremendous expense, including boxing, expressage and insurance, we charge a commission of 33 1/3% and all of our sculptors seem very willing to pay it. In our Fifth Avenue establishment which is a very expensive proposition also we charge a commission of 35% which seems agreeable to all of our artist members. We feel that both the out of town exhibitions and our Fifth Avenue Galleries are very helpful in getting more people interested in American art but if you feel that you do not wish to have your bronzes sold either there or out of town you can advise us and we will be guided accordingly. I feel sure, however, that on second thought you will see this as we do. Business is improving and I am hopeful that the next two or three years are going to be much better. With kindest regards, Yours truly, [signed] Erwin S. Barrie Manager. ESB:RMM
