Russell Since talking with you about Mrs. Russell’s bond as administratrix, it occurs to me that I might take up a certain matter with you relative to the Fine Arts policy which we have furnished for Mrs. Russell for many years, and then if you feel so inclined, you might pass along some information to Mrs. Russell which would be of benefit to us. You perhaps remember that when this policy was started; that special arrange- ments were made with our company which permitted us as general agents to put in force a kind of insurance which we had never had before. You perhaps are aware that the Aetna and its affiliated companies write nearly every class of insurance there is written, and in some localities certain kinds of policies are few and hard to obtain. A Fine Arts policy is one which this agency does not very often have an opportunity to obtain. It is perhaps unnecessary to say that we would like to retain this business. In the past we have always handled this policy as a local agent and a general agent combined. Last summer when Mrs. Russell was in Great Falls, she spoke as though she wanted Mr. E. I. Holland to handle this policy. Since we were told this we have investigated the matter and found that Mr. E.I. Holland acts as a local agent, or what we might term a broker, and as a broker he would have to take this policy to our branch office in Los Angeles and broker it with them. Now, inasmuch as the Huntsberger-Givens Company ^is^ in the same class as a branch office and are able to pay the same commissions, it occurs to us that it would be very proper to intimate to Mrs. Russell that if she made up her mind that Mr. Holland must be considered as a broker relative to this business then it would be perfectly proper for her to instruct Mr. Holland to send the order to the Huntsberger-Givens Company for the issuing of the policy and return to him for delivery to Mrs. Russell, and he would receive the same con- sideration as to the commission from us as he would by taking the business to the branch office at Los Angeles. Church It is rather a delicate subject for us to take up with anyone expecting Mrs. Russell, but we wrote Mrs. Russell on December 7th relative to the renewal of her policy which comes up January 29th and we have not been favored with any reply, and the only thing that we can assume is that she has already given the order for the insur- ance to Mr. Holland. If you see fit to write to Mrs. Russell, we wish to assure you that there will not be any difficulty from the insurance company side of the question, because we have taken the matter up with the Zone Office at San Francisco and they are perfectly wil- ling that we handle the matter as outlined above, and in fact they prefer that we do handle it for the reason that the policy originated in this office. We now have,and[sic] probably will continue to have, business with Mrs. Russell, and therefore it is not stretching the point particularly to retain this policy for this territory, and last, we would like to have this much premium in the Fine Arts policy classification for this general agency.
