In this particular instance, he is especially sorry to be unable to do so, becaue[sic] he not only has a great admiration for the art of Charles M. Russell but in life his feeling for him was one of sincere friendship. It is difficult for the outsider to fully understand Mr. Fairbanks’ position in theses matter and I hope you will recognize the necessity of a refusal.
