Dear Nancy: Thank you very much both for the Fifty Dollar ($50.00) check, received the other day covering balance due me on exchange of "Sleeping Thunder" for "The Texas Long Horn". Also for the lovely Christmas Card etching of Trail’s End by Ed. Borein. I shall add it to our list of keep- sakes. I think that I acknowledged in my last hurried note the safe receipt of the two copies of "Back Tracking on the Old Frontier". I am go- ing to have mine bound the same as Sack did his. I trust that you have already returned to me the receipted bill for "Counting Coups". I sent you my check for Eight Hundred Dollars ($800.00) covering the bill, and enclosed a stamped envelope for your reply. As always, Katharine joins me in every good wish. Sincerely yours, [signed] Philip G Cole P.S. The other day I picked up at the Harlow Galleries a lovely little water color by Charley dated 1904, size about 11" x 16”. It shows a birch bark canoe coming around the bend of a stream , which looks as if it might possibly be on the big Blackfoot River or up in the Kalispell country, or somewhere like that. The canoe has four Indians in it, the front one standing upright and guiding as the canoe is about to pass some rapids. I do not know where the picture came from, and the Harlow Galleries were unable to give me a title for it. Can you help me select a title for it? I am unable to recognize what tribe these Indians belong to. In [next] Mrs. Charles M. Russell -2- December 30, 1927 lieu of a better name I have called it "On the Blackfoot", which does not seem to be a name typical of Charley. I am wondering if you will be able to recall the picture. Unfortunately I have not yet had it photographed, but will send you a phtograph[sic] as soon as I get one, which will not be for a week or two.
