725 Michigan Blvd., Pasadena, California. October 10, 1933. W. J. Byrnes & Co., 229 North Broadway, Los Angeles, California. Gentlemen: On June 9th, 1933, I paid express charges amounting to $58.07 on an oil painting from Canada in which a deposit of $10.00 was in- cluded in lieu of a Consular Invoice. When the picture arrived, the papers at the express office (American Railway Express) showed that the invoice had been paid by the shipper, the Gainsborough Art Store, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and your repre- sentative advised me the $10.00 I paid would be refunded. To date I have not received this refund. Will you kindly look into this matter and advise. Verytruly [sic] yours,
