Pasadena, California November 15, 1932 Mrs. W.B. Campbell 27 Loraine Apartments, Calgary, Alberta, C a n a d a. Dear Mrs. Campbell: In regards to your painting of “Carson’s Men” about which you wrote me some time ago and which I later saw at Ed. Borein’s Studio in Santa Barbara, will you please advise me at what price you are now hold- ing the picture. Of course, you know big prices are impossible at this time but if you are willing to sell the picture at a small profit to yourself I have a client who is in- terested in the picture. However, he will not pay a big price as he has purchased, in the last year, some of the best things Charlie ever painted at a ridiculously low figure. If you are still interested in selling the picture, give me your lowest cash price. I will then communicate with my client and if he is interested, I will let you know. Then we will make arrangements to have the painting sent to me. Please do not have the painting sent to me until I am positive my client is willing to pay your price. There is one thing I am happy to say – the Russell pictures that have changed hands daring this depression have, in every case brought the original cost to the owner with some profit though small. Your family must be nearly grown now. My boy is almost six feet tall. Time certainly goes fast. I remember with such pleasure, the visits we had with you and Mrs. Campbell in Calgary years ago. with kindest regards, I am Sincerely yours,
