May 7, 1 9 2 8. Mr. Geo. H. Charls, 1006 First Natl Bank Bldg. Canton, Ohio. Dear Mr. Charls: Your letter of April 25 was received. So far, I have heard nothing from the hunt that has been started for the paint- ing. “Whose Meat,” by Charles M. Russell, but as soon as I hear anything, I will let you know. When in New York with an exhibition last December, there was a client, who has the largest number of originals by Mr. Russell, and he was much interested in the painting I now have, “The Stranglers.” At that time, he said he wanted the picture and I told him I would give him the refusal of it. Since then, he has gone to Europe and I don not know whether he is back or not but, if not, he will return some time[sic] this month. If he has decided not to take the picture. I can arrange to send the original for you to see, should you wish me to do so. However. I felt you should know that. in a way there is a string on this last bear picture that I have which was painted by Mr. Russell. Sincerely. NCR: ED
