Scope and Content Notes

Notebook paper titled, 'Memorandum,' with a note from Joe DeYong that states, 'It must be a tough game - you are guarded and wary as hell!' In type bellow note is, 'this note was written to James Rankin (author compiling book on Charles M. Russell) during conference between Mr. Rankin and Joe DeYoung, who was a protégé of Charles M. Russell. Joe DeYoung is deaf, and conversation is either carried on by pencil memoranda or through his mother, whose lips he is able to read. After considerable information had been asked for by Mr. Rankin and freely given by Joe DeYoung, he wrote this note to Rankin. Santa Barbara, California - January 8th, 1939.' Taped on the back is a newspaper article about Dale Carnegie titled, 'Philosophy of Life: Author of 'How to win Friends and Influence People.'
