Typed two page letter from Homer E. Britzman to James Rankin dated Jan. 17, 1939 mentions the possible ownership of an early piece of work by Charles M. Russell by a man named Ferdinand Bane near Stockton, California and mentions an incident when Charles M. Russell accidently stepped on the train of a duchess and he said '. . . she was game 'cause she just lowered her head like a plowhorse and tugged away.' Britzman even claims that Charles M. Russell's admiration of a Remington bronze resulted in the big bronze titled 'Meat for Wild Men' as well as stating that Armstrong lent a couple of volumes of the Parkman's books to Charles M. Russell and they were returned illustrated and speaks of uncast bookends owned by Bud Cowen.
