January 30, 1931. Judge James W. Bollinger, Putnam Bldg., Davenport, Iowa. Dear Judge: Your letter of Jan. 19th received. That was a wonderful article written by Irvin Cobb and it was written for the Montana newspapers to create an interest in Charlie’s memorial statue that is to go into the Hall of Fame in Washington. I think it was to en- courage the people to make the proper appro- priation during this legislature and I’m sorry I cannot tell you where you can get the article but am having it copied and sent to you. I have only one clipping. The Lewis’s write to me occasionally and I gather that they are pretty well and are having an open winter, which pleases Mrs. Lewis as she does not like the extreme cold. It will be only a short time now until Jack and I will be drifting North again. Each year, I wonder if we will go the next. The Lake is not as interestingto[sic] me as it used to be. There are so few that man[sic] much to me now so I will not be sorry if the Government does decide to buy the property. All good wishes to you and yours.
