[handwritten] Jan 11_1927 Dear Mrs. Cunningham, Your sweet message was waiting for me when I came to my room tonight. The picture of your mother and the Lavender Water some how goes way deep down and makes ^my^ heart warm because they do mean a new friend and I will look forward to seeing you when ever our trails come close enough. The picture of yourthe Living room shows just where I sat when at your home the ^other night^ little chair you said was just my size and you sat me there to get warm then when we went in to dinner you put your mothers lovely [illegible] shawl around my shoulders and I loved the feal[sic] of it and I knew [over] [verso] you would not have done that if you had not known. That Friday evening is one I shall always remember. The surprise in your mothers scrap books when I saw such a lot of reproductions from my Chas’s work- I hope to see you again before I leave Santa Barbara & when I get my studio in Pasadena ^finished^ I hope some time you will come there and we will talk about your mother and my husband. Sincerely, [signed] Nancy C. Russell.
