October 1, 1927 Dr. Phillip[sic] G. Cole, 470 Vanderbilt Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. Dear Phillip[sic]: Just a word to let you know where I am and an idea of what I am doing. This[sic] summer in Montana has about emp- tied me of energy. There have been so many unexpected things to settle up my affairs here, that I find my- self physically unfit to tackle the Memorial Exhibition this Fall; and I have written the Grand Central Art Galleries to that effect. I know you will be glad, because it will mean your beautiful room will not be dismantled of Russell picture this year. This has been a summer of many things. I will be send- ing Charlie’s Biography off to the Publishers next week for his verdict. “Trails Plowed Under” will be on the market October 7th, and it really is a beautiful book. I hope to be at home “Trails End” October 15th where I most likely will find a letter waiting from you. My kindest regards to Katherine and you. I hope to see you in California this winter. Sincerely, R:AMB
