725 Michigan Blvd., Pasadena, California. June 9, 1933. Mr. Wade H. George, Great Falls, Montana. Dear Mr. George: Your letter of May 31st received and it surprised me. I shall have to explain my side of this biography business. I engaged Mr. Dan Conway to come to Lake McDonald and help me write that manuscript. The manuscript belongs to me and I have what Mr. Con- way said is the original copy. I paid Mr. Conway in full and liberally for all work on the manu- script. If we could have gotten it published, I intended to pay him a certain percent of any royalties I might have received but my publisher would not use it as it was too much like a news- paper article – that is it is too full of words. My plan is to work it over some time; take out two- thirds of it, try to rub the rest of it into shape then possibly publish it. I am sorry you have gotten mixed up with it and have been misinformed. Poor little man, he was trying to find a way out and apparently forgot about our contract and letters which I have from him acknowledging our entire business transaction. I expect to be in Great Falls this summer and shall be happy to see you and Mrs. George if you are in town. My kindest regards to you both. Sincerely,
