Dear Mr. Kelley: We were very sorry not to have seen you again this last summer, but Chas. was a bad actor and we could not get away from the lake. Did we understand you were desirous of getting one of Charlies paintings for your den to go over the mantle? It was a shame you did not see the collection up to Lewis’s thisssummer[sic], but as you did not, Chas. and I have talked over what was the best thing to represent Montana to you and the hunting picture that you saw the photo of seems to be the best. The scene is taken from the south fork of the Flathear[sic] River, so that is your country. The canvas is 32 by 48 inches, which is a possible size to go in the space you have reserved for it. If you are interested we will be glad to send the picture for you to try or send photos of all we have that you may choose the subject you are most interested in. Charlie says to tell you, Old Man Sciatica is still with him. He has him on crutches now but he hopes to beat him and thinks he will be out soon. He sends very best wishes to all the Kelleys.
