September 18, 1931. Mr. C. F. Kelly, 25 Broadway New York City. Dear Mr. Kelly: I visited Jim and Bertha this summer at Rocky Point. While I was there, Jim said that you had spoken of wanting to get in touch with me regarding the Decoration over your fire-place. Had it been entirely finished the price would have been $5,000.00, but half of that amount will be satisfact- ory to me and I trust it will be to you. I am will- ing to make this concession under the circumstances, but I feel – and I am sure that you and Mrs. Kelly do also – that it is a fine thing just as it is and there is nothing else on earth like it. I am sorry I did not see you this year but if you are in California this winter, I should love to have you come out to “Trail’s End”. The vis- its we had with you at Swan Lake are happy memories and to see you is always a joy. Sincerely,
