Glass bead necklace with turquoise and heishi
Woman’s beaded and hard soled moccasins with geometric designs / Unknown
Essay/Description
Hard sole, women’s moccasins. Predominately white field of beading with red and blue cross design. Border (single), double on heel.
Curatorial Remarks
The style of moccasins is Cheyenne. This could have been made by the Otoe in Cheyenne style. These are special event moccasins worn during ceremonial events. The hide could be smoked tanned leather; the darker hide could be an indicator that is was made for commercial purposes. These moccasins were made for a woman.
