Man's cotton patchwork big shirt
Girl's blue cotton shirt and skirt with yellow silk ribbon attachments / Unknown
Curatorial Remarks
The top is a ribbon shirt. These ribbons are much shorter than they use to be. Ribbon shirts are worn by both men and women; these types of shirts share a common design. The ribbons first appear on men's shirts and later were attached to women's shirts. Ribbon shirts were first worn by Prairie Tribes and then picked up by Southeastern Tribes in the 1880s and 1890s, post-removal.
