November 5, 1927 Mrs. Nancy Russell, COMMODORE HOTEL, City. Dear Mrs. Russell: I regret extremely I am not going to be in town Saturday evening. As a matter of fact, I live in Greenwich, Conn., and leave New York about the time you arrive. I will be very happy to see you at the galleries 9 o’clock or shortly after, Monday morning. We have most of the show installed, but will be glad to have suggestions from you Monday. We have also done quite a little work along publicity lines, but are trying to arrange to have several news writers to interview you Monday and will take it for granted you will be at the galleries most of the day. We have arranged for the Reception, Tuesday afternoon, three to six, and are sending you one dozen invitations, which you may wish to mail out over Sunday. We are having a number of photographs of the painting owned by the Prince of Wales made for us, and will use these for publicity work, together with many others. The most important thing to be done first is, to get some prominent people who were friends of your husband to be present at the Reception, Tuesday afternoon. I understand Fred Stone is playing at the Erlanger Theatre, Philadelphia, Pa. and that Mrs. Stone is out at Forest Hills, Long Island, and I presume Fred will be home over Sunday. Would you not like to telephone them and see if they will not promise to be present? I understand Will Rogers is in the West, but if there are any other well known friends of Mr. Russell’s in, or near the city, I would suggest that you telephone them personally.
