My dear Mr. Whitney; Your letter came the day Chas. was operated on for aappendicitis[sic], and about the first thing he heard when he came to from the chloroform was your letter, at least as soon as he cared to hear anything. It was a great pleasure to me as well as to him to have such a nice letter from you, especial- ly at this time. Your certainly did buy the picture “The Fighting Cow”, or at least you bought the use of it. We were to have the original back after it was published. I hope you found it.
