Essay/Description

Cherokee double-walled storage basket, of commercial reed in natural color with five orange-dyed reeds. Horizontal bands of five reeds (alternating to create impression of ticking) below traditional scalloped rim to just above scalloped foot of basket which is created when reeds coming from inside down outside of double-wall are finished off in scallop to inside. Woof of basket started in traditional crossed 3 rod start. Weft is lattice woven over/under 3 rod bundles (twined).
